VIRGINIA ZHENG
Piano
Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Virginia Zheng is a pianist who is devoted to sharing her music with audiences around the world. She has been enamoured with piano and performing from a young age, and that passion has driven her to perform worldwide. Notable performances include her concerto debut in Chicago with the Northeastern Illinois University Orchestra. She has also performed in renowned concert venues such as Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. Virginia has won many prizes in international competitions, including First Prize with Jury’s pick in the New York Artists International Competition in 2023, and First Prize in the Young Virtuosi category of the Future Stars International Piano Competition in 2019. She is also the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the BC Arts Council Scholarship in music.
Virginia also strives to share her knowledge and love of music as an educator, and has sat on the jury for distinguished competitions. She has been awarded a Keyboard Department Graduate Teaching Assistantship from Boston University since 2024, where she works with students pursuing a piano minor or in non-music majors. She also maintains her own private studio in Boston, teaching students at numerous different levels.
Virginia received a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music from Manhattan School of Music, in New York, studying with Alexandre Moutouzkine. She is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University, studying with Pavel Nersessian.
