ANDY OUYANG
Violin
Andy OuYang is a versatile violinist whose performances have taken him to concert stages throughout the United States and Taiwan. He has frequently performed with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra New England, and his festival appearances include Festival Napa Valley, the Miami Music Festival, the International Music Festival of the Adriatic, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, and the Eastern Music Festival, where he served as orchestra concertmaster.
Andy is a prizewinner of Boston University’s 2025 Carnegie Hall Competition. Since 2025, he has appeared regularly with the Long Island Concert Orchestra’s chamber music series across New York, participating in the premiere tour of David Winkler’s Trio Concertante. In 2024, he gave the world premiere of Peyton Miller’s Sonata for Violin and Piano at Yale University, a work written for and dedicated to him by the composer.
A participant in the 2019 Tibor Varga International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland, Andy most recently appeared as soloist with the Siung-Song Orchestra at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts in 2025. He has participated in masterclasses with Augustin Hadelich, James Ehnes, Anne-Sophie Mutter, the Juilliard Quartet, and the Emerson Quartet, and has received guidance from Ani Kavafian, William Purvis, and Boris Slutsky.
Raised in a musical family, Andy began his violin studies with his parents and continued his training with Wu Hung, I-Hao Lee, Simin Ganatra, and Tai Murray. He studied at Indiana University and DePaul University before earning his Master of Music degree from Yale University. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University under the mentorship of Peter Zazofsky.
