XIEZIXUAN (ZENIA) WU
Cello
Xiezixuan (Zenia) Wu is an accomplished cellist whose performances have reached audiences across the United States and China. She has appeared as principal and assistant principal with the Boston Chamber Symphony Orchestra, Quincy Symphony Orchestra, Sharon Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston University Symphony Orchestra & Opera Institute. Festival appearances include the Atlantic Music Festival and the Berlin Opera Academy, and she has performed in national tours with the Rose Piano Quintet. Her solo and chamber recitals have been presented in both the U.S. and China, and she has contributed to solo recordings for Shanxi University’s newly composed dance dramas.
Zenia is actively engaged in music education. Since 2023, she has taught aural skills courses, private cello lessons, and coached chamber ensembles at Boston University College of Fine Arts. She has also served as a chamber coach for the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra and provides private instruction to students of all ages and backgrounds, integrating both Eastern and Western pedagogical approaches.
Raised in a musical environment in Beijing, Zenia began her cello studies with Prof. Jianan Zhao and Alexander Suleiman at the China Conservatory of Music, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Cello Performance. She continued her training at Boston University, where she received her Master of Music in Cello Performance before beginning her Doctor of Musical Arts under the mentorship of Prof. Michael Reynolds and Owen Young. She has participated in masterclasses and workshops with Julian Weber and Victor Akulovich, among others.
Zenia’s artistry combines technical precision, expressive depth, and a strong commitment to teaching, making her both a compelling performer and a dedicated educator.
